Intel Shows Loihi AI Chip and Tangle Lake 49-qubit Quantum Chip

At CES 2018, the Intel  the giant chip maker company shows the prototype of a quantum chip of 49-qubits. CEO (Brian Krzanich) of the company introduces this quantum chip. Details of this chip are not revealed but code-named Tangle Lake called 49-qubit processor. Tangle Lake will help Intel to perform tasks that cannot be performed by machines based on current technology.

Intel 'Loihi AI Chip' is basically a neuromorphic processor, of course, a self learning, like human brains creates neural paths over time which is what eventually constitutes over IQ and problem solving capability. This chip has the ability to 'learn' and have around 130,000 neurons and 130 million synapses (sensory cell). It is based on Intel's 14nm technology. 

The Loihi test chip’s features include:

• Fully asynchronous neuromorphic many core mesh that supports a wide range of sparse, hierarchical and recurrent neural network topologies with each neuron capable of communicating with thousands of other neurons.


• Each neuromorphic core includes a learning engine that can be programmed to adapt network parameters during operation, supporting supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement and other learning paradigms.


• Fabrication on Intel’s 14 nm process technology.


• A total of 130,000 neurons and 130 million synapses.


• Development and testing of several algorithms with high algorithmic efficiency for problems including path planning, constraint satisfaction, sparse coding, dictionary learning, and dynamic pattern learning and adaptation.
